CANADIAN BIRD
NERD

JESSICA DUQUETTE

Welcome to Canadian Bird Nerd! I'm excited to share with you the story behind this channel and what drives me to create content for you all.

Since I was a child, animals have been my safe haven. They bring me joy, comfort, and a sense of peace that is hard to find elsewhere. I've always had a deep connection with them, and this connection has only grown stronger over the years.

My love for photography and wildlife led me to start Canadian Bird Nerd, a platform where I can share my passion with others. Being able to showcase my images and videos has given me a sense of fulfillment that I can't quite put into words. And it's this fulfillment that drives me to create more and more content for you.

However, life threw me a curveball when I was diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and Dysautonomia. It forced me to give up my career in nursing, which was devastating. But discovering the Cornell Lab Bird Feeder cam reignited my passion for birds, and I soon found myself learning everything I could about them.

I started my own amateur bird feeder cam and began documenting their lives, as well as building feeders and nest boxes to support them. It was through this journey that I discovered a small community of bird cam streams on YouTube, and met my amazing friend Scott from BirdWatching HQ in Ohio.

Starting my own live streams has inspired me to learn even more about birds, and I hope to inspire you all to take action as well. Whether it's building a feeder, planting a garden, or simply watching the birds in your backyard, we can all do our part to help these incredible creatures.

But Canadian Bird Nerd is more than just a channel about birds - it's a place where you can come to relax, destress, and learn something new. Whether you're feeling down or just need a break from the chaos of life, I hope my videos can provide you with a sense of comfort and joy. So hit that subscribe button, and let's embark on this bird-watching adventure together!

I believe that every action, no matter how small, has the power to make a difference. By sharing my passion for birds and raising awareness about the plight of our feathered friends, I hope to inspire others to join me in preserving and protecting these magnificent creatures for generations to come. Together, we can make a positive impact on the world and ensure a brighter future for our wild bird population.
